Camp Hill Presbyterian

This beautiful, simple sanctuary is well suited for organ---a crucial component of this congregation's worship service. Looking to enhance the sound of the organ by increasing reverberation, I modeled the sanctuary using published surface material data (from laboratory tests). Reverberation in the model followed the general contours of the measured data, but reverberation times were longer.

These results indicated to me that it should be possible to increase reverberation by reducing the sound absorption of room surfaces. The model also indicates a theoretical limit to this increase.

The sound files marked "measured" and "theoretical" make these results audible using an electric violin as a source. The difference is not huge, but it is certainly audible as a slight increase in the "glow" around the sound in the "theoretical" file.
