The Girls of Spring
The girls of spring run in the street
That flow before my house. They play
A game of ball. They never cheat
(Unlike the cruel stream of time and pain),
But change the rules between each round.
From on my porch, I hear the spray
Of laughter and enjoy the sound---
Until their sport is ended by the rain.
