END of SUMMER
There’s sadness in the lengthening of shadows,
Creating golden light amongst the leaves.
Seize the fleeting chance to smell a rose
Before they close, and the impending haze
Of winter brings its customary cares.
As summer clothed in gorgeous color goes,
School starts—and in my heart a child grieves.
Lost light, gray hairs;
Despite strife, give praise
To G-d, even for gloomy days.
