I was called in to correct a puzzling problem in this large auditorium: speech was garbled in some seats, but it was perfectly clear in adjacent seats. The source of the problem was revealed by playing clicks through the sound system. The garbled locations received strong echoes off far walls.

I came up with a design that eliminated those echoes and cleared up speech intelligibility in the hall. The before impulse response clearly shows two strong echoes, clearly gone in the after impulse response.

The installation photo shows the guys from Oiler Electric installing the loudspeaker sound barrier.

"We just finished our play and---Great!, things went well. . . It was far and away the best received and best heard musical we have ever performed. We're thrilled with the changes that have been made."
